The Transferable Skills Quiz

Printer-Friendly Format

Most of us can describe the skills necessary to succeed in our current jobs. But it's often difficult for us to identify the skills that can be transferred to other occupations.

I often use this ice-breaker during training sessions attended by people who are unfamiliar with the job search process. The purpose of this quick quiz is to show similar skills and accomplishments that can be claimed by people from very different backgrounds.

Here's how it works:

Assume you're a business owner that is looking for someone to help manage your office. You just received information about some potential candidates and need to determine who to invite in for an interview. Their accomplishments match what you're looking for, but you didn't get information about their backgrounds. Can you figure out which applicants possess the skills below? Give it a try!

Answer each question, then click the SUBMIT button for your score, or just click the SUBMIT button, to instantly view all of the correct answers.
